A Scripture Meditation

Romans 8:18:

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

This is really powerful.  Here are three main points that help us grasp this truth:

1. Suffering is okay.

To listen to some Christians, your faith is weak or even non-existent if you are suffering.  Suffering was widely recognized as a regular part of the early Christian movement.  There’s no reason now to look down on suffering.

2. There is future glory.

Seems pretty obvious, but a lot of times this ends up as cheap cliche.  It’s not cheap cliche, it’s not fluff.  It’s Biblical truth and I hope today it reminds you of the glory that will come when the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend.  There will be a new heavens, a new earth.  All of what we see WILL be re-made.

3. Future glory is personal.

The suffering we endure now is nothing compared to eternal glory.  Our hurt, guilt, shame, insecurity, sin, etc. will all be changed out for eternal bodies which are designed to live in worship forever.  Gone will be the emphasis on ourselves and the problems we face each day.  Gone will be all of our shortcomings.  All of it will be exchanged for a body designed to lives forever and forever be at peace and rest doing what we were made to do . . . worship and serve Jesus.

Is your suffering and struggling in your earthly life pointing to your forever life?

Have a great Friday everyone.  Be challenged.

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin
