Let us mourn

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Three days ago, a Copley man targeted and murdered 8 Copley residents, including 4 children.  This tragedy not only made national news, but also directly affects many adults and youth in the Akron area, and some have a connection to our church community.

Questions of why will certainly fill our minds.  Why would this man do this?  Why don’t we have more strict gun laws?  Why would God allow this?  Unfortunately, many of these questions will not be answerable and will not bring comfort.

The truth is, sin is everywhere.  If you want to make a difference in the world, reconcile with your neighbor.  Make amends with your spouse.  Love your children with all that you have.  We know what sin does to us.  It eats us alive.  We are no better than the man who killed his neighbors.  We all need to take repentance and reconciliation seriously.

We all, so desperately, need Jesus Christ to pull us out of sin and hell.

Let us mourn over our sins, over the sins of the shooter, and for our Akron community.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Blessings,

Josh
