Joy

Here are a few, short passages of scripture for us to ponder as we approach the third Sunday of Advent, which is Joy.  It is interesting that joy is linked to many different aspects of our faith and experiences in each these passages.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Be joyful always; pray continually;  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

James 1:2-3 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

Romans 12:12 – Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Philemon 1:7 – Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

3 John 1:4 – I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

Blessings,

Josh
